Welcome to Invest In Loss, a blog about the good management of people and projects.
The aim of this blog is to explore a philosophical and principle-based approach to management, to discuss the lessons learned from applying this approach, and to muse about ways we can all be better managers.
A Philosophy Of Management
The ideas and observations on this all stem from a simple philosophy about what management is all about. At the core of this philosophy is the concept that all management activity is based on three key principles:
- Direction
- Organisation
- Supervision
Principle-Based Management
Good management starts with the manager as a self-managing human being. From there comes the three principles of direction, organisation, and supervision. The principles are expressed through the fundamental considerations, and supported by an infinite number of management tools and a small set of key attitudes.
All of these are themes that will be explored on this blog.
